Need a few tips on how to get started?

We’ve prepared answers to a couple of the most frequently asked questions that should help you get started. We hope that you can find your answer here, but if not, please let us know through the Community Support or the VIP Support (if you’re a PRO license user). We will be happy to answer any other questions you may have!



  • How to install eM Client?

    After you download the installer from our website, open the downloaded ‘setup’ file and proceed with the installation steps. During the installation, you can choose to make the application launch on the system startup or to create a desktop shortcut.

  • How can I import my old data?

    eM Client can import your data directly from Microsoft Outlook, Thunderbird, other popular clients, previous eM Client backup or relevant data files.

    When you first run the application, an automatic import wizard will lead you through the process if it detects that you have other email client(s) installed. Besides this, the import options can be accessed at any time in Menu > File > Import. You can also import your data from email, calendar and contacts files or even an .xml file with your eM Client settings through this option.

  • What is the difference between a PRO license and a Free license?

    The main benefits of the PRO license are the unlimited number of email accounts that you can set up and the possibility of using eM Client for commercial purposes. Commercial use is any activity that helps you make profit, the Free license therefore cannot be used in company settings or on personal computers for business correspondence. PRO users also gain access to the dedicated support system and to the licensing manager. The support options are fully described here.

  • I have my license details – how can I activate?

    In the eM Client application, go to Menu > Help > License. Click on Activate and insert your activation key (including the hyphens).

  • How can I check if an update is available?

    To check if your eM Client is up to date, navigate to Menu > Help > Check for updates. eM Client however usually checks for updates automatically. Updates are pushed in waves to avoid overloading the server so not all users receive the update notice at the same time.

  • What is your update model?

    By purchasing an eM Client license, you get the latest officially released major version of eM Client, all the smaller updates related to that version and one year of VIP support. If you decide to upgrade to a newer version of eM Client or get another year of VIP support, you will need to renew your license here.
