Full control over your cloud files

  • Upload attachments from eM Client directly to Google Drive

  • Cloud attachments are listed as normal attachments in eM Client (when sending and receiving files)

  • Toggle between read only and editable mode for documents of supported providers (for .rtf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .xlsx, .ppt, and .pptx files)

Where to begin

  • If Google Drive is already installed on your device, eM Client will detect it automatically. Also, if the app is installed and you drag & drop or choose a file from a cloud storage folder, you will be asked about connecting your Google Drive storage to eM Client.

  • If Google Drive is not installed, it needs to be added manually. Go to Settings > Mail > Attachments and click the Add button to add Google Drive.

  • Upon attaching files from Google Drive for the very first time, you will be prompted to enter your Google credentials.

Learn how to link files from Google Drive to eM Client, step by step.

  1. To attach a file from your Google Drive storage as a link, first click the Attachment button the same way you would attach files normally.

  2. Go to the Google Drive folder set on your device and choose a file you wish to add to your email as a link.

  3. A dialogue box opens, giving you a choice to link the file instead of physically attaching it. To link the file, click 'Yes'. Additionally, the option to attach the files uploaded to cloud storages only as links can be set as default.

  4. When adding an attachment from Google Drive for the first time, you need to choose a Google account to proceed with, and the credentials of this account are required. The password can be saved and remembered.

  5. Then, grant eM Client permissions to save, edit, create and delete your Google Drive files by clicking the 'Allow' button.

  6. Confirm your choices and press 'Allow' once more.

  7. Choose to open eM Client (and set it as default by checking the box).

  8. A file saved on your Google Drive cloud storage is successfully added to your email as a link.
